Caudalie | Our Favorites

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir has had a profound impact on this generation's beauty bloggers, with many singing it's high praises, others proclaiming it a "glorified mint-water" (as heard on Twitter). I'm not sure where I stand on it yet, perhaps in the middle. I feel refreshed after it, but I'm not convinced I'll need to buy another one.

REN | Coup D'Eclat

I'm not sure if I've particularly enjoyed these products, to be honest. It could be many things but I have an itch that the Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask was what broke me out this month. After I stopped using it, my face really cleared up. Boo :( I had high hopes for this range! So far, REN has not lived up to my expectations at all.

That's all I have to say about them. Disappointing. Not sure what the hype is about.

Monday's Muse #1

What I've Learned From Olivia Palermo:

Don't be afraid to be a bitch
Ah the distant memories of The City come flooding back... I will never forget the way those girls hated her. But you know what? They may have hated her for doing her job the way she knew best, but she's come out on top and she's got a hot boyfriend to prove it.
Smile like you've got a secret
There's always something more to Olivia's style than just her clothes. It's the way she walks, the way she talks, the way she seems effortlessly put together, the way she smiles and more. Her unique sense of style is brought back to her personality, more than anything.
Be a Trendsetter
Never be behind on the Trends, and never be afraid of working with them. You always know that if there's a new trend out there, Olivia is the first to mix it with her own clothes and rock it. She's never behind on the times and even whilst walking her precious little pup, she's still seen with a face of makeup, hair done, and sunglasses on nose.
A Girl Always Looks Better With Sunglasses On
If only this were year round applicable for me *collective sigh* She's always got a pair of sunnies on, no matter what. What's even better is that she knows her look, her style and she continuously rocks the same pair (or a similar one, maybe a new brand). She's got the classic Wayfarers with a bit of catty sass on the edges.

Best wishes to all you babes out there. Aspire for a little more Olivia on this Monday. x

Top 13 of 2012 | Part Two

There it is in all its' shining glory. My stash of must haves, praise God's, etc. They look so happy together, dontcha think?
 01. Face
This was the year of the BB Cream, definitely. But this was also the year I branched away from MAC, and realized that they were not the only good high end foundation. I adored the Maybelline BB Cream (and still do) over summer and somehow, Bobbi Brown popped in my basket and became a new favourite as well. Like most everyone, I apply The Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I absolutely recommend you pick this up. For me, it's a must have.

 02. Cheeks
This was the year also of the dressed up cheeks, as well as radiant skin. For my birthday, I received the  MAC Soft & Gentle which has saved my life in terms of highlighters go. It's a blush, its a highlight, it's an eyeshadow -- Oh, and whats that? There's so much product that there's no way I'll run out any time soon. Maybe in 2015. And then it was the discovery of contouring and brown-pink blushes, such as Douceur from NARS.
 03. Lips
I found my signature red this year, which was a surprise to me and to you. I didn't know that there was such a thing but I fell head over heels for Kate Moss' lipstick range for Rimmel in 10. And it was also, the year of the Revlon lip butters and I, too, fell to the evil that is the lip butter. Once you buy one, you want another and so on, until your drawer doesn't close! I found my favourite one of those to be the Cotton Candy.
 04. Miscellaneous
It seems hard to believe that the Naked 2 only came out last year, doesn't it? I've loved and adored this palette, and passed it on to my grandma, mom, aunt, etc. It's a family favourite you could say. In the spring and summer, I was bonkers for this pastel blue from the NARS collection. It was such a fan favourite that my best friend is still in love with it and wears it all the time. I can't wait to wear that one again. And it was the year that I found the perfect primer for my oily little lids. Hats off to you, Too Faced!
05. Eyes
And last but not least, it was the eyes that were a main focus in my beauty routine. The Color Tattoos are so easy to apply, long lasting, and easily blendable that it became a staple! Finding the perfect mascara was also a challenge, but I really enjoyed Benefit's They're Real, Dior's Diorshow and some other babes.

What were your favourite products of 2012?

The Straight Set | bumble and bumble.

I'm not quite sure what to think of these babes yet. As I got them for free (or rather, for spending too much money at Sephora), they were a rather good choice, I'd say. The shampoo and conditioner worked for about six washes each, and the blow dry will stay for a while, as you only need a little bit. I like these products but I find the shampoo and conditioner to be a bit drying on the scalp and ends, and not particularly straightening.

Sexy Mother Pucker | Soap & Glory

I'm going to be honest, I've never been sure about lip plumpers. There's something wildly misleading about saying my lips will turn out like miss lip-a-lot like pictured above. Just not happening. With a flat pout like mine? I don't think so.

But for some strange reason, I had high hopes for this product. It sounded good, it looked good. The colour was right up my alley and it was a gift from my sister, which seems to make products look better to me, if they're given to me from someone else and a complete surprise. The color is a sheer pink with tiny shimmers running throughout. The feeling is a bit tingly as expected, but not unbearable. The packaging is utterly divine. I wanted to carry this one around in all my bags, all of the time.

The Plumping, you ask? Well, it was not so accurate. I thought maybe, just maybe, the tingly would turn into plumpy but alas, I was failed. I saw no difference in the size of my lips. Not from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Just kinda tingly.

Do I regret getting this product? No, I think it's a great lipgloss. Do I wish it would have given me Angelina Jolie's pout in a $15 product? Absolutely.

Have you tried any lip plumpers that actually worked?!
